Mongolia

Arrived in Ulan Baator on Sunday the 2nd and after a 30 minute hike from the station found a hostel. It was heaven to walk in and find BBC World news on tele and a laundry service. The next day we drove for an hour and a half from the city to a Ger camp in the Terelj national park, where we stayed with a nomad family. Our ger was beautiful and we had our own log fire in the middle of the tent. It was like being in the middle of nowhere, with rolling mountains in the distance, wild horses and a bad tempered camel! The following day we went on a horse trek for 5 hours. It was very romantic at first but the novelty soon wore off once we got back to camp walking like John Wayne! We stopped at a remote Buddist monastery, which was used as a meditation centre. Arrived back in UB on Wednesday night and went out for a couple of Chengis Khan beers to prepare us for the following days train journey. Got our last trans-siberian train on Thursday morning and found ourselves sharing our compartment with a 75 year old Mongolian lady who spoke no English, but we got on like a house on fire and we were fed for 24 hours with her Mogolian home made specialities!

Ah baby, that dive in Russia looks a hell of a lot colder than the one we did!!! All looks so amazing girls, the trip of a lifetime - although i had to laugh at someone's comments "trans siberian" yap "biggest lake, "yap" - remembering when you first came back to uni from Brittany Kerry and it was "france" yap "fromage" yap "escusez moi" yap, ha ha, did make me laugh. Anyway girls I won't keep you as you have an adventure to find somewhere. Keep posting, and it's wonderful to see the photos, it looks truly amazing. Have a wonderful easter weekend, i'll be thinking of you with my galaxy luxuary egg pack, sorry that was mean - and I look forward to spoiling you in NZ/Sydney. Missing you but see you soon. much Love H xxxx
